About Businesshug
Our goal is to make it easier for people to find nearby places in a great location. We show you what's located nearby and rank places based on their proximity to others. This technique allows any user to find a place in a great location near lots of other places quickly and easily. Our mission is to bring nearby places closer to people by building products that connect users to the places they're looking for.
The Businesshug Story
The story began in 2009, when we both flew from different parts of the world to spend our New Years Eve in Chicago. We were new to the city and wanted to quickly find out where the most popular local places were nearby our hotel. Every night we would spend countless hours looking at an online map, searching for nearby restaurants, and then accessing each restaurants website to see if they were worth visiting.
After returning from yet another amazing trip we decided that there should be a easier way between the way people search for what's nearby and local places, so Businesshug was born. We quickly formed partnerships with companies like Expedia and CitySearch to provide support for all hotels and restaurants in the USA. After thousands of hours of work, 6 website revisions, and tons of feedback we launched our Alpha website in September 2010.
What started as a problem, found a solution, and turned in to an interesting company idea with a dynamic business model. We are just getting started so we hope you will join us and be part of the story in building an amazing company.
The Crew
Pawel Glowacki, Web Engineer & Co-Founder
Pawel was born in Poland and after traveling the globe at a young age he currently lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. In May 2010, he graduated from UNC-Charlotte with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Concentration in Business. Pawel likes to play soccer, trade the Forex market, and work on team based projects.
Pawel Kaminski, Marketing & Co-Founder
Pawel currently lives in Warsaw, Poland and works as the IT Support and Logistics Assistant at DSM Nutritional Products, which is the world’s leading vitamin supplier. After traveling around the world and visiting numerous number of different cultures since the age of 3, he is fluent in Polish, English, and Russian. Pawel is a creative and innovative individual who has the desire to create Businesshug into a profitable business using his Marketing knowledge.
Mike Szumowski, Mobile Engineer
Michael lives in uptown Charlotte, NC, working for a Fortune 100 financial services company. He graduated from UNLV in December 2005 with a Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science and is currently pursuing his Master's degree at UNC-Charlotte. Michael's role is to ensure the Businesshug experience is properly enjoyed from your mobile device/smart phone.
